A woman has been awarded around £45,000 at an employment tribunal after she was found to have suffered from what was described as a “succession of unpleasant and discriminatory and unfair treatment”, including while she was pregnant. 

As part of its ongoing inquiry into sexual harassment in the workplace, Parliament’s Women and Equalities Committee is to hold an evidence session into the use and possible abuse of non-disclosure agreements. 

A ex-employee of Hertfordshire County Council has succeeded in a claim of direct racial discrimination against his former employer, reports People Management. He had also claimed victimisation, constructive unfair dismissal and racial discrimination, but these claims were rejected by the employment tribunal. 

To mark this year’s Mother’s Day, the TUC has highlighted that although women now make up half (49.7%) of the workforce, they still encounter far too many problems at work. 

A new survey published by PwC to mark International Women’s Day on 8th March found that 82% of women surveyed are confident in their ability to fulfil their career aspirations and 73% are actively seeking career advancement opportunities.
