A paramedic who fell out the back of an ambulance and suffered a long-term injury was unfairly dismissed, an employment tribunal in Croydon ruled.

According to recent research from the TUC, just 9,200 out of more than 900,000 eligible parents chose to use shared parental leave last year. Four years after the system as introduced, the TUC found the take-up of shared parental leave was still so low because the majority of new fathers could not afford to live on of the weekly payment of £145.

A Committee of the European Parliament has called for help for victims of sexual harassment to report cases and the imposition of sanctions against perpetrators. 

As part of its ongoing inquiry into sexual harassment in the workplace, Parliament’s Women and Equalities Committee is to hold an evidence session into the use and possible abuse of non-disclosure agreements. 

As increasing numbers of women are seeking advice about pregnancy and maternity discrimination at work, new guidance has been launched to give women clear advice on their rights, as well as what action they can take against employers who they feel have discriminated against them. The document also works to help employers’ ignorance in matters concerning pregnant women in the workplace, with employers who do not follow new guidance finding themselves facing an employment tribunal.
