A new Government survey has revealed that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people in the UK continue to experience negative reactions and discrimination in public and at work.
With regards to the workplace, a majority of respondents had a positive or neutral reaction when they were open about being LGBT at work, but some said they had experienced a negative reaction due to being LGBT. The survey showed that too many LGBT people feel unable to be themselves at work and that the majority of incidents in the workplace were left unreported.

In response to the survey’s findings, the Government has published an LGBT Action Plan, which includes a £4.5m fund to address inequality and support the delivery of actions in the plan in areas including health, education, personal safety and the workplace.
